“Restrictions on imports imposed by Russia are creating difficulties for businesses, including those in the floriculture sector. We greatly welcome the opportunities available to Armenia to make use of the EU’s Autonomous Trade Measures. We hope Armenia will take full advantage of this opportunity.”

Dutch Foreign Minister Tom Berendsen made these remarks during a joint press conference with Ararat Mirzoyan, Armenia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade.

In this context, the minister announced that the Netherlands intends to support Armenian flower growers in finding markets for their products beyond Russia.

“Today, I will also visit greenhouses to hear directly from flower growers about the challenges they are facing in the floriculture sector as a result of the difficulties arising from Russia’s actions. One of these challenges is diversifying exports and finding suitable markets for their products beyond Russia.

“We very much look forward to exploring how we can expand support from the Dutch and European markets, in addition to cooperation with Dutch flower growers. The Dutch government will continue to support Armenia throughout the diversification process,” he said.

It should be recalled that in September, the Council of the European Union approved a proposal for an EU regulation on the application of autonomous trade measures to Armenian goods, granting Armenia certain economic benefits.
